Shenzhen, Guangdong ( Blogr ) September 12, 2009 - A new portable DVD player was launched earlier this week that 'rips' files while it plays, decimating the gap between the portable DVD player and the computer.
Previously, the portable DVD player was only something given to children to keep them quiet duirng a vacation, as they could do little more than play compact discs, DVDs and, occasionally, SD cards.
These limitations severely limited the marketability of the portable DVD, as most other devices had some form of data storage functionality.
According to Rose Li, the PR Manager for wholesale electronics supplier, Chinavasion, the limitation was so major that it was actually reducing the viability of portable DVDs in the long run.
"Laptops and netbooks are emerging now that cost just as much, if not less, than high-end portable DVD players," according to Rose Li. "Why pay top dollar for something that can just play discs when somebody could get something that does a lot more for just a little more outlay?"
China Wholesale company Chinavasion has realized this. And, in an effort to extend the lifespan of the portable DVD, launched a portable DVD player ( http://www.chinavasion.com/index.php/cName/home-audio-video-portable-dvd-players/ ) line that can rip files from CDs and DVDs as well as play them.
This is a revolutionary new feature, according to Chinavasion's Rose Li, and one that will makes the device relevant for today's market.
"If people are travelling and someone likes a picture, movie clip or song that is being played on the portable DVD the person showing it can just make them a copy of those photos right then and there," said Rose Li. "What else, besides a laptop, has that functionality?"
According to Chinavasion's Rose Li the new portable DVD players had huge potential for photographers, account managers and all maner of people who need to share data but don't want the expense of a laptop.
While some bigger brands might put a high price tag on such a function Rose Li said Chinavasion had made their line of portable DVD players with ripping functionality so affordable that anybody could buy one.
Even though these portable DVD players are on the bleeding edge Rose Li said with all portable DVDs going through a double QC process, coming with a 12 month warranty and in being shipped from China in up to 4 days there was no reason for people not to buy one.
"Chinavasion's goal is to put the latest in technology from China in the hands of people everywhere."
